Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ShineSoft[Guangzhou Shi'er Software Technology Co., Ltd. ("we")] collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information while providing our subtitle software service.

1. Information We Collect

  • Name and email address: used for identification, and to send your activation code, order confirmations, and support replies;

  • Machine ID (device identifier): used to generate the unique activation code bound to your device, enabling "one device, one code" verification;

  • Payment information: we do not directly collect or store this. Payment is processed by Paddle, which may share necessary transaction information with us (such as order number, amount, and billing email) so we can perform the contract.

2. How We Use Information

We use this information only to: create and manage your license, verify authorization and process migration requests, provide customer support, coordinate with Paddle on orders and refunds, and comply with applicable tax and anti-fraud requirements. We do not use your personal information for advertising, and we do not sell it to any third party.

3. Sharing of Information

We do not share, sell, or rent your personal information to third parties, except: with Paddle, to complete payment and refunds; with service providers such as Feishu that process customer information on our behalf, limited to what is necessary; with your explicit consent; or where required by law or a lawful request from a judicial or administrative authority.

4. AI Processing Providers

Speech recognition is performed entirely on your device and is never uploaded to any server. Subtitle translation, by default, calls DeepSeek (provided by Hangzhou DeepSeek AI Basic Technology Research Co., Ltd., with servers located in mainland China) to process your subtitle text; if you choose to use an optional free translation engine instead (such as MyMemory or Google Translate), your subtitle text will instead be sent to that provider's servers, located in the EU or the US. These providers use the text you submit solely to perform recognition or translation, and do not thereby receive your name, email, or other personal information. Where the law applicable to you requires specific safeguards for such transfers, we will implement reasonable measures using the compliance mechanisms available at the time.

5. Storage and International Transfers

Your name, email, and Machine ID are stored on servers located in mainland China, operated on Feishu (a workplace platform provided by Beijing Feishu Technology Co., Ltd.). If you are located outside mainland China, your personal information may accordingly be transferred to mainland China and other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. We generally process this information on the basis that it is necessary for the performance of our contract with you, and we have configured access controls on the Feishu platform; Feishu holds China's MLPS Level 3 and ISO 27001 certifications. Where applicable law requires additional safeguards, we will implement reasonable measures using the compliance mechanisms available at the time.

6. Retention and Security

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to provide the service, or as required by law. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures (such as encrypted transmission and access controls) to protect your information, though no method of internet transmission is completely secure.

7. Your Rights

Depending on the data-protection law applicable to you (including China's Personal Information Protection Law and the EU/UK GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, restrict or object to certain processing, request data portability, withdraw consent, or lodge a complaint with a competent regulator. Given the limited nature of the information we collect, these rights may apply only in specific circumstances. To exercise any of them, please contact us below; we will respond within fifteen (15) business days.

8. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not directed at children under sixteen (16), or such higher minimum age as required under the law of your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from such children, and will delete it promptly if we learn it was collected inadvertently.
